Dharavi, Mumbai 7p.m 24.01.2016:
A rally organised by National Forum Dharavi and Joint action committee,Mumbai -Justice for Rohith, against Rohith Vemula’s institutional murder were allegedly attacked by R.S.S in the evening around 7p.m. The attack took place when the rally of around 300 people was crossing the closed shutter of one of the R.S.S shakha.
The attackers pelted stones and used wooden rods meant for construction purpose. They even went to terrace and started throwing the same on the protestors in the narrrow lane of Dharavi. Police immediate response helped in controlling the situation and R.S.S people were isolated. The police stopped the attackers and snatched the wooden and iron rods. By the time five people got injured including Ajmal, Suvarna and Laxman from the group.
This joint forum consist of 20 different institutions including unions and university students. Ramesh Kutti, Sridhar and Kutti were the organiser from National forum who got the police permission later at 3p.m. The rally was peacefully marching for three hours until the twenty alleged people from R.S.S attacked. The protestors are demanding to register F.I.R against the R.S.S people involved at Dharavi police station.
